Intro Blog

Welcome to my blog and website! I’ll start by introducing myself through a series of questions.

Where are you from?

I was born and raised in San Angelo, Texas, but both of my parents are originally from the Philippines. The best, easiest way to describe where my hometown is Middle of Nowhere.

Where did you go to high school?

I went to a 6A school called Central High School, which is very surprising for Middle of Nowhere to have. When I was there, I played violin in chamber orchestra, competed for computer science on the UIL team, and played on the golf team for about a year.

How’s UT Austin and Texas CSB?

It’s definitely ramping up; Google Calendar is my best friend. As for UT Austin, I really enjoy it, and I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything else.

What do you do in college?

  • I’m part of Texas Taekwondo as a team member who travels and competes at tournaments against other colleges. Getting my green belt a week from now!

  • I serve as the Director of Communications for the Computer Science and Business Association. Canva is my other best friend.

  • I’m a Project Manager for Project Advance Austin. Personally, I think it’s really cool and exciting getting to work with all sorts of people to innovate a solution for a good cause.

  • Hanging out with friends is always fun. I also like meeting new people at whatever campus events have free food. (Free food is good.)

Why blog?

I think writing is a good exercise for promoting creativity and a nice way to destress and reflect.

What do you want to pursue as a career?

My 6 year-old self wanted to be a doctor-ballerina, but we’ve come a long way since then. As of now, I want to be a product manager.

What other life goals do you have?

I want to travel the world, buy a nice acoustic guitar, and be fluent in French.

Something you learned this week?

Struggle = attempt toward growth.

What are you most proud of doing last week?

I got to write a complete Product Requirements Document for the first time to be actually used by a team.

What ability or skill did you use to make that moment the most proud of?

Customer-centric thinking helped me get the job done. I could’ve asked for a website with everything that I thought would be nice to have, but I tried my hardest to think about what certain demographics, such as prospective students and company representatives, would want to see if it was their first time learning about Texas CSB.

What impact did you have on other people this week?

I got to help out at beginner’s class this week at Texas Taekwondo, and I loved it! I feel like I impacted some of the newcomers positively by showing them how to do certain kicks and encouraging them to try them out. The energy and excitement in the room was so special, and it really made my day on the days I went.

Highlight of the week?

I’m grateful to be able to list several moments: helping first-timers at Texas Taekwondo as previously mentioned and getting accepted into the Dell Technologies STEM Aspire program.
